Sinopse

A carne quica e o corpo inteiro delira, escorre. Na ausência de escape o líquido perfura ese acomoda nos buracos e frestas do chão. PAPANGÚ, o corpo-bomba, é composto defragmentos guiados pelo desejo de mudança: eu quero, eu quero! E num gesto mágico, ohomem faminto mastiga com o cú, com os olhos, com o suor, com as bocas a anatomiada cor que se agarra ao solo.

Synopsis

The flesh bounces and the whole body raves, oozes. In the absence of escape, theliquid pierces and settles into the holes and cracks of the ground. PAPANGÚ, thebody-bomb, is composed of fragments guided by the desire for change: I want, Iwant! And in a magical gesture, the hungry man chews with his ass, with his eyes,with his sweat, with his mouths, the anatomy of color that clings to the ground

Olá, meu nome é Alexandre Américo, eu sou artista da dança Potiguá e vim compartilhar um pouco do processo do Papangu.
Ele faz parte do projeto poético acerca da morte de minhas elaborações que eu tenho feito desde 2016. Fiz o “Cinzas ao Solo” como um primeiro desdobramento, depois o “Bípede Sem Pelo” e, agora o Papangu que é um trabalho essencialmente sobre morte, sobre fome. Fome no sentido mais amplo, dessa vontade irrefreável de comer, destruir, devorar.

Aqui a gente encarna a figura do Papangu como essa força capaz de espremidamente a partir de outros verbos, como jorrar, abalar os pisos aplanados dos teatros, abalar as estruturas verticais, abalar toda essa lógica arquitetônica, eurocêntrica, branca e “bipedicompulsiva”, para que a gente consiga reclamar um outro tipo de vontade, de coisa, de desejo.

Então, o Papangu é essa peça também, criada desde a Torta Plataforma, em parcerias muito lindas, que vocês podem conferir na ficha técnica, de pessoas que puderam e são, fazem parte dessa rede, porque essa vontade, essa vontade de reclamar, de pedir, reclamar também do que é nosso, ela é compartilhada.
Isso tem sido uma das coisas mais bonitas de encontrar!!

Hello, my name is Alexandre Américo, I am a Potiguá dance artist, and I came to share a little about the process of Papangu.
It is part of a poetic project about the death of my elaborations that I have been developing since 2016. I created Cinzas ao Solo as a first unfolding, then Bípede Sem Pelo, and now Papangu, which is a work essentially about death, about hunger. Hunger in the broadest sense, this irrepressible desire to eat, destroy, devour.

Here we embody the figure of Papangu as this force capable of squeezing itself through other verbs, such as gushing, shaking the flattened floors of theaters, shaking vertical structures, shaking all this architectural logic that is Eurocentric, white, and “biped-compulsive,” so that we can claim another kind of will, of thing, of desire.

So, Papangu is also this piece, created from Torta Plataforma, through very beautiful partnerships, which you can check in the credits, with people who could and do take part in this network, because this will, this will to claim, to ask, to reclaim what is ours as well, is shared.

Preto, caiçara, neurodivergente e LGBT+, Alexandre Américo é artista e pesquisador da dança. Doutorando em Educação (PPGED-UFRN) e numa perspectiva racializada e acessível, atua na área da investigação em Arte Contemporânea com enfoque na “diferença” a partir de pesquisas performativas contracolonias. Entre 2018 e 2023, foi Direção Artística da Cia Giradança, Natal-RN. Implica-se nos estudos da psicanálise e da teoria aleijada junto a TORTA plataforma de arte expandida (RN).

Short biography

Black, caiçara, neurodivergent, and LGBT+, Alexandre Américo is a dance artist and researcher. A PhD candidate in Education (PPGED-UFRN), from a racialized and accessible perspective, he works in the field of Contemporary Art research with a focus on “difference,” through countercolonial performative research. Between 2018 and 2023, he was Artistic Director of Cia Giradança, in Natal-RN. He is involved in studies of psychoanalysis and crip theory alongside TORTA plataforma de arte expandida (RN).
