Sinopse

Resta um homem comum que ficou. Desterro. Silêncio. Espera. Permanece. Repete. Falha. Repete. Objetos encontram o espaço. O corpo ali. Sem narrativa. Ainda quase nada. Ainda assim, continua. Às vezes: desvio: humor. Não se conta uma história.

Vê-se apenas isso: um corpo que ainda continua — ou, se quiseres, ainda um dançarino solitário.

Synopsis

What remains is an ordinary man who stayed. Exile. Silence. Waiting. He remains. He repeats. He fails. He repeats. Objects encounter the space. The body there. Without narrative. Still almost nothing. And yet, it continues. At times: deviation: humor. No story is told.

One sees only this: a body that still goes on — or, if you prefer, still a solitary dancer.

TRANSCRIÇÃO DO ÁUDIO: ...ou, se quiseres ainda, Um Dançarino Solitário, o título do novo trabalho em processo de pesquisa.
Nessa nova pesquisa, eu tenho, me relaciono com três objetos que me ajudam a friccionar, a tensionar o espaço, sem narrativas prévias, e é também um desejo meu de trabalhar com células móveis, e também é meu interesse, um estudo do corpo, que eu já venho há alguns anos pesquisando, que é o estado do corpo, que tem a ver, pra mim, com permanências, com repetições, com prolongamentos de ações, estados silenciosos, e também nesse lugar escolhido que eu venho, que vai sendo elaborado, vai sendo repetido, vai trazendo as cenas, cabe o acaso.
E vai dando o lugar também de uma poética e sem narrativas óbvias.
E é isso que me interessa nesse momento com esse trabalho.

Transcription: ...or, if you wish, even a solitary dancer, the title of the new work currently in research and development. In this new investigation, I work with — and relate to — three objects that help me create friction and tension within the space, without prior narratives. It is also my desire to work with mobile cells. At the same time, it continues an ongoing study of the body that I have been developing for several years: the state of the body, which for me relates to durational practices, repetition, the prolonging of actions, silent states.

Within this chosen space I have been constructing — which is gradually elaborated, repeated, and gives rise to scenes — there is also room for chance.
It allows space for a poetics without obvious narratives. That is what interests me at this moment with this work.

Eliana de Santana é artista da dança e do teatro da cidade de São Paulo. Trabalhou com Antunes Filho, Antônio Abujamra e Gerald Thomas. Foi contemplada com o Programa Municipal de Fomento à Dança, ProAC, Prêmio Denilton Gomes, Prêmio APCA, Prêmio Funarte Klauss Vianna e Bolsa Vitae. Sua pesquisa se desenvolve a partir dos estados do corpo, permanências, repetições e presença em dança e teatro.

Short biography

Eliana de Santana is a dance and theatre artist based in the city of São Paulo. She has worked with Antunes Filho, Antônio Abujamra, and Gerald Thomas. She has received support from the Municipal Dance Development Program (Programa Municipal de Fomento à Dança), ProAC, the Denilton Gomes Award, the APCA Award, the Funarte Klauss Vianna Award, and the Vitae Fellowship. Her research develops from bodily states, durational practices, repetition, and presence in dance and theatre.
