Transcription: Batalha da Kuadrilha. BATALHA DA KUADRILHA is a process collectively conceived by the group. Coming from ETEC de Artes, our relationship with rap battles has always been very strong. ETEC, located in the North Zone, is 1 kilometer and 100 meters away from the largest rap battle in the city, Batalha da Norte. Crossed by experiences and lived realities within freestyle culture, in the second module of the theater course, we created a performance that brought together theatrical language, hip-hop theater, rap battles, and the dramaturgy of Buraquinhos ou Venta é Inimigo do Picumã by Johnny Salaberg.

After completing the course and presenting the idea in a few punctual performances, we decided to resume the construction of this collective dream. With Kauan Ribeiro in dramaturgy, and myself, Queu, and Mozzi in direction, we took on the responsibility of continuing it—a performance that speaks about peripheral childhoods from an anti-heroic perspective, about ancestry, legacies, paths, defeats, victories, and the dream of artistic ascension, but above all about the path that shapes an artist. All of these aspects are sustained by rap battles in their vast universe.

Interviews with MCs, personal accounts, and many memories create this corpo-corpa “fe + male body” that is followed and narrated within the performance. With Afro-surrealism, the language of battles integrated into the piece, and a generational cut from the 2000s. After all, we were born after the turn of the century. We build a collective story of an artist who could be any one of us—including you who are listening. A strong and sincere shout from KUADRILHA TEATRAL!
