Sinopse

Séquana-Yará – A Voz das Águas é um solo ecofeminista, transdisciplinar e indisciplinado que investiga os pactos entre patriarcado, colonização e dominação das águas. Criado por Viviane Dias após residências na Cité internationale des arts e no Couvent des Récollets, com apoio do Institut Français e da Ville de Paris, o espetáculo propõe alianças entre mulheres e rios, humanos e não humanos, cá e lá para imaginar outros futuros possíveis. A deusa do Sena- Séquana dialoga com rios de São Paulo.

Synopsis

Séquana–Yara – The Voice of the Waters is an ecofeminist, transdisciplinary, and undisciplined solo that investigates the pacts between patriarchy, colonization, and the domination of waters. Created by Viviane Dias after residencies at the Cité internationale des arts and the Couvent des Récollets, with support from the Institut Français and the City of Paris, the performance proposes alliances between women and rivers, humans and non-humans, here and there, to imagine other possible futures. The goddess of the Seine—Séquana—enters into dialogue with the rivers of São Paulo.

TRANSCRIÇÃO DO ÁUDIO: Bom, "Séquana - Yara" faz parte da pesquisa continuada da Estelar de Teatro, um coletivo de mais de 20 anos dedicado à dramaturgia de voz feminista, e desde 2018, nós pesquisamos muito sobre o silenciamento de mulheres, rios, as relações entre patriarcado, colonização, dominação das águas.

Então, do matriarcado de Pindorama, por exemplo, a gente falou do acidente de Brumadinho; Em 2022, 2023 falamos sobre os rios soterrados de São Paulo no Futuro Ancestral. E em 2024, eu fui laureada, ganhei um prêmio pelo Instituto Francês para morar na Cité Internationale des Arts, em Paris. E passei lá nove meses, morando assim, do ladinho do Sena, na frente do Sena, então, pude fazer uma pesquisa muito profunda, mergulhar mesmo nesse processo, em diálogo com criadores de vários países, muitos arquivos, muitos materiais sobre o Sena.

Essa peça estreia em maio e faz uma temporadinha também em agosto, com selo da Pantan Brasilian, que é um selo da Primavera Brasileira, da Universidade Sorbonne Nouvelle. E ela é feita toda em estreito diálogo. A pesquisa é toda feita lá em Paris, mas em estreito diálogo com a Estelar de Teatro aqui em São Paulo.

Então, o co-diretor Ismar Smith, sempre presente, também indo para Paris em todos os momentos para realizar as apresentações. A Vic Van Poser fazendo a videografia, o Gabriel Moreira as músicas, a Lucia Soledad Spívak também as músicas. Nós ainda conseguimos um prêmio da Cidade de Paris, uma residência artística no Recolê, que eu continuei um pouco esse processo em agosto, e agora pegamos esse material todo e estamos fazendo um intenso diálogo com os rios de São Paulo para apresentar, especialmente aqui na Farofa, nesse mês de março, então estamos muito contentes e esperamos vocês no nosso processo.

Transcription: Well, “Séquana – Yara” is part of the ongoing research of Estelar de Teatro, a collective with more than 20 years dedicated to feminist-voiced dramaturgy. Since 2018, we have been deeply researching the silencing of women and rivers, and the relationships between patriarchy, colonization, and the domination of waters.

So, from the matriarchy of Pindorama, for example, we spoke about the Brumadinho disaster; in 2022 and 2023, we addressed the buried rivers of São Paulo in Futuro Ancestral. And in 2024, I was awarded a prize by the Institut Français to live at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. I spent nine months there, living right next to the Seine, in front of the Seine, which allowed me to conduct very deep research, truly dive into this process, in dialogue with creators from various countries, with many archives and materials about the Seine.

This piece premieres in May and will also have a short season in August, with the seal of Pantan Brasilian, which is a label of Primavera Brasileira, from Université Sorbonne Nouvelle. It is made entirely in close dialogue. The research was all carried out there in Paris, but in close dialogue with Estelar de Teatro here in São Paulo.

So, the co-director Ismar Smith is always present, also traveling to Paris at every moment to carry out the presentations. Vic Van Poser is responsible for the videography, Gabriel Moreira for the music, and Lucia Soledad Spívak also for the music. We also received a grant from the City of Paris, an artistic residency at the Récollets, where I continued this process a bit in August. And now we’ve gathered all this material and are engaging in an intense dialogue with the rivers of São Paulo to present it, especially here at Farofa, this month of March. So we are very happy and hope to see you in our process.

A Estelar de Teatro é uma companhia de 20 anos dedicados à investigação de uma cena brasileira, de voz feminista e no território das artes híbridas. Nossos trabalhos já receberam os mais importantes reconhecimentos e apoios em São Paulo e já circularam pela França, Itália, México, Portugal, Alemanha e Chile. Em 2025, Tarsila ou a vacina Antropofágica, indicada ao Prêmio Shell de dramaturgia pelo texto de Viviane Dias, iniciou a programação de teatro na Sessão França – Brasil, na Univ. Sorbonne.

Short biography

Estelar de Teatro is a company with 20 years dedicated to investigating the Brazilian scene with a feminist voice within the territory of hybrid arts. Its works have received major recognitions and support in São Paulo and have toured France, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Germany, and Chile. In 2025, Tarsila ou a Vacina Antropofágica, nominated for the Shell Award for Dramaturgy for Viviane Dias’s text, opened the theater program of the France–Brazil Session at Sorbonne University.
